The repair.And the paperwork.
Make the home safe first. Your insurer then needs a clear account of the damage and the proposed work.
- 01You
Make contact safely
Once you are somewhere safe, tell your insurer what happened. Ask about emergency authorisation, excess and any approved-contractor requirement.
- 02Plumber
Assess and quote
Ask for the cause, proposed work and cost in writing. Keep emergency isolation separate from the proposed replacement or repair.
- 03Insurer
Confirm the cover
Your insurer decides what the policy covers. Get its authorisation and claim reference before approving non-emergency work.
- 04You
Keep the record
Keep the quotation, itemised invoice and any relevant compliance documents. Take photographs only from a safe place; do not delay help to collect them.
